Enrichment &
Challenge

Too often, even mathematically adept students are uninspired by their classes, and the traditional solution - to move them faster through the topics - fails to really access the depth and variety of mathematical thinking. I provide mathematical challenges tailored to each student drawn from areas not often covered in elementary school curricula, such as cryptography, fractal geometry, game theory and combinatorics. Ironically, students who easily excel in math often have a lower than average tolerance for frustration, as solutions have come easily to them. By grappling with rich and perplexing problems, students build their stamina, their ability to engage in mathematical discourse and proof, and most importantly cultivate a hearty enthusiasm that will serve them in high school, college and beyond.
